Description
Human resource skills are developed at an advanced level. Workplace relationships between employee, manager, human resource department, and the organization are analyzed in areas of leadership and motivation, legal compliance, performance planning and evaluation, union-management dynamics, and recognition and reward practices. Prerequisite Course: Minimum 2.0 in MGMT 224 or Department Approval
Placement Scores: Reading Level 5 and Writing Level 6
Recommended: Have taken previous MGMT courses.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the basic human resource management functions through identification and recall of information/facts in formal course testing
- Identify and apply the broad scope of human resource practices which affect the organization’s ability to meet its strategic objectives and assess their appropriateness to specific situations using case study analyses, in-class activities, and group discussions
- Apply human resources theory to real-world situations and design and critique HR interventions using problem resolution methods in class activities and simulations
- Develop and apply critical thinking skills through an in-depth examination of a particular aspect of HR management using written reports, in-class facilitation activities, and/or class presentations
- Practice effective written and oral communication skills through assignments, presentations, discussion, and reflection activities

Student Electronic Access to Grades
D2L is the College’s Course Management System which includes a gradebook function allowing students access to their grades in order to receive timely and meaningful feedback on their progress in the course at any time. Whenever practicable, results for graded items should be posted electronically within 48 hours after the instructor has completed the grading process for the items, and final grades for the course should be entered no later than the specified grading day.

Enrollment Verification
Instructors will verify participation in a course by the 8th day after the start date of sections less than 8 weeks long, and by the 15th day after the start date of sections 8 weeks or longer. Student Code of Conduct and General Rules and Guidelines
The College recognizes the value and importance of a safe and orderly learning environment that supports honesty, integrity, and ethical conduct.
