Description

This course explores the importance of ethical and effective communication at the managerial and organizational level of organizations. The course examines strategies for more effective listening, oral, and written communication in business. It explores the ways managers can influence positive strategies for overcoming communication obstacles and recognize the benefits of conflict. (F,Sp)

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Explain and discuss how key management theories and strategies impact organizational communication.
  2. Identify and evaluate strategies for overcoming obstacles and/or conflict in organizational communication.
  3. Explore and evaluate changing technology and its impact on individual and/or organizational online presence.
  4. Design and implement effective communications inside organizations (between individuals or groups) and/or outside organizations (external communications).
  5. Plan for and conduct an effective business meeting or interview.
  6. Write an effective managerial/organizational/business report based on a situational analysis.
  7. Evaluate listening and feedback skills through in-class discussions or learning activities.
  8. Recognize the significant impact that technology and rapid change have on the content and methods of organizational communication at the managerial level.

Enrollment Verification

Student Code of Conduct and General Rules and Guidelines

The College recognizes the value and importance of a safe and orderly learning environment that supports honesty, integrity, and ethical conduct.
